Martha de Juana presents El tren sin fin [The Endless Train.]

**Voices to sing, tales to imagine, live music to accompany us on our voyage

By Alejandra Flores

There`s no one like Martha de Juana to guide us on a trip from tale to tale and to gift us with the sweet enchantment of imagination.  El tren sin fin—a singular concept of song, stories and live music—is one of the productions that will participate in the 3rd Life and Death Traditions Festival, Xcaret 2008.

The Endless Train will be staged in the Chapel of the Henequen Hacienda, where the Children`s Pavilion, entitled Skeleton-scaping with Pixán, will be set up.  This is the ideal setting, as we hear the train rattling down the tracks, to draw closer to the wagon full of stories Martha de Juana has prepared for us, like the one about Francisca and Death, the classic La Llorona or Tale of the Weeping Woman, or that not so well known story of The Captain and His Daughter.

El tren sin fin, explains Martha de Juana, `is a series of narrative tales and musical stories set to live piano and percussions instruments. These are original songs composed specifically for this show that were created with the single purpose of transporting us to a world of magic.`

`In El tren sin fin, music is color, narrations are precise, gestures are subtle and loving; it`s a show created with love to delight our senses.  It`s called The Endless Train because life is an infinite journey.  This train can take us the deepest corners of the Underworld to hear its tales and back again to the present with the sound of a drum or the trilling caress of the piano.  El tren sin fin is a train that passes by over and over again, endlessly; it is a metaphor of life on Earth and the later voyage into death, to the eternal, to what is left over…`

El tren sin fin will be presented from October 30th to November 2nd at the Chapel in Xcaret Park`s `Hacienda Henequenera`.
