La traigo bien muerta [She Is Dying for Me], Punch & Judy Theater `to die for`. **Authors: Boys and Girls from Kantunilkin By Alejandra Flores Mayan boys and girls from Lazaro Cardenas County in the northern part of the State of Quintana Roo have started telling horror stories as a way to remember how they celebrate the Day of the Dead. From the hands of their grandparents, they have received the tales they have written into plays for Punch & Judy theater productions. La traigo bien muerta is the product of an arduous but fun collective effort that will be presented on October 30th and 31st during the 3rd Life and Death Traditions Festival, Xcaret 2008. Xcaret Park`s Esplanade will host the Punch & Judy theater, a magical box where puppets handmade by the children themselves will bring this singular story to life. The children`s group, part of the Kantunilkin Cultural Center, told us a little about La traigo bien muerta: `The town festival at Kantunilkin, county seat of Lazaro Cardenas County, starts on All Souls` Day. A tourist comes to visit the region and, in the middle of the festivities, discovers a pretty girl who he promptly falls in love with. She hides a strange secret that will make this unfortunate or fortunate tourist experience love between life and death.` Chuckles ending in belly laughs are guaranteed with La traigo bien muerta, a Punch & Judy theater production that preserves the freshness of youth and the innocence contained in stories written with truth. Remember, La traigo bien muerta will be staged on Xcaret Park`s Esplanade on October 30th and 31st. |
