Lol Ixim presents La Muerte Llegó Temprano [Death Arrived Earlier]

Dances from Lázaro Cárdenas County in northern Quintana Roo have a worthy and colorful representative in Lol Ixim.  This dance troupe from the county seat of Kantunilkin has been invited to participate in the cast of artists in the 3rd Life and Death Traditions Festival, Xcaret 2008.

Xcaret Park`s Main Plaza will be the stage where Lol Ixim, which means cornflower in Maya, will give life to its ballet Death Arrived Earlier, where the choreography and movements characteristic to regional dance tell the story hidden in the steps that cross over and unfold.

La Muerte Llegó Temprano, say the members of Lol Ixim, represents what happens to those who stay "on this side" when a loved one passes on. Contemplation in movement and music that will adorn the show and reveal the secrets of an ancient tradition, Hanal Pixan, as well as the stories told about the Banquet of Souls originated in the Mayan communities of Quintana Roo.

La Muerte Llegó Temprano will play on October 30th at the Xcaret Park`s Main Plaza and in the Open Theater on the 31st.
