* On Xcaret Park`s Main Plaza and Hacienda Henequenera ** Movies with El Santo and Doña Macabra, as well as La Leyenda de la Nahuala [The Legend of Nahuala] By Alejandra Flores As it does every year, Mexican cinematography is a mandatory part of the Xcaret Life and Death Traditions Festival. This year, included in the films selected to tempt visitors, is an unforgettable film featuring El Santo, el Enmascarado de Plata [The Saint, The Man in the Silver Mask]: el Santo en el Hotel de la Muerte (Federico Curiel, 1963). For those who would enjoy a retrospective of legendary Mexican terror films, you can`t miss El Esqueleto de la Señora Morales [Mrs. Morales Skeleton] (Rogelio A. González, 1959); Hasta el Viento tiene Miedo [Even the Wind is Afraid] (Carlos Enrique Taboada, 1967); Doña Macabra (Roberto Gavaldón, 1971); and Más Negro que la Noche [Darker than the Night] (Carlos Enrique Taboada, 1975). Show time and venue for the above films is nightfall on the Main Plaza. La Leyenda de la Nahuala (Ricardo Arnaiz, 2007)—a scary movie for children and the young at heart—will be presented in the Children`s Pavilion, located in the Hacienda Henequenera.
